OBrien Real Estate Proudly Supports Record-Breaking Carrum Coast Guard Fun Run.
On Sunday, 16th February, the Carrum Coast Guard Fun Run saw a record-breaking turnout, with 702 participants lacing up their running shoes to support the Carrum Coast Guard. OBrien Real Estate, a proud sponsor of the event since its inception nine years ago, was well represented with 93 of its team members taking part in the run. This year, the fun run raised approximately $20,000 for the Carrum Coast Guard.
The event, formally known as the Coast Guard Around the River Fun Run, is organised by the Carrum Flotilla of the Australian Volunteer Coast Guard – VF07. Established in 1966, VF07 is among the busiest flotillas in Victoria, responding to an average of 120-150 marine assistance calls each year. Their patrol zone extends from Seaford to Sandringham and beyond when necessary, ensuring the safety of countless boaters and water enthusiasts.
The Australian Volunteer Coast Guard operates as a national marine rescue organisation, run entirely by dedicated volunteers.
Their vital services include:
- Patrolling local and coastal waters to ensure marine safety
- Operating marine radio services to assist vessels in distress
- Conducting search and rescue missions to save lives at sea
- Providing public boating education to enhance water safety knowledge
